I've been floating along all of June goal-wise. I reached my weight goal and even went two pounds below it and I started the month eating healthy because of the IBS and still recovering from the surgery. The last two weeks though what with moving out of Santa Fe and camping out at dd's, my nutrition has slipped. Badly. I've gained a pound despite a lot of exercising with DVDs. I've rediscovered my love of sugar. I haven't really binged in the way I could have binged--I've gone to bed hungry despite a layer cake being on the kitchen table--but at the same time I haven't nourished my body either.
As far as "mental" goes, I've watched a whole lot of TV but have managed to read one book and a couple of magazines. My guidebooks for England and Scotland lie untouched however. I have planned one big trip while I'm in England--a week walking in the Hebrides--but I could have done, could still do, more, especially as my computer connections over there might be spotty. Spiritually I've gone to church every Sunday and done some reading and praying but that's been spotty as well.
So this month is my month for true "nourishment". I am going back to basics and am going to eat those foods that I know nourish my body and do those things that nourish my mind and heart. It fits in with my upcoming trip to the UK. I so want to go there and not fritter away my precious 2.5 months.
Want to join me--anyone else into nourishment for July and what would it mean to you? Here are my early thoughts on what nourishment is. A time to:
1) Eat high-quality food in moderation. Enjoy the food and the taste and stop when I know I've had sufficient.
2) Spend morning and evening time in prayer and meditation.
3) Exercise 45 minutes daily remembering to stretch and to include some strength training.
4) Talk with people I meet and listen to them. Write about it. Especially write about it even when I don't think I want to write.
4) Read uplifting books and mags and write about that as well. Keep a journal close by when my laptop's not around and, when I have a good stretch of time, transcribe what I write into my blogs.
Oh my goodness!
