Dd's ward had their annual 4th of July breakfast and water fight today at Coronado National Park. It started at 7 a.m. and we almost made it on time which is pretty good considering that dsil only had about 4 hours of sleep--he got home from his work shift at 2:00 a.m.--and the babes usually don't wake up until 7 a.m. But we were all in the car, bleary eyed and some grumbling but we arrived at 7:15. I couldn't help thinking that in a few days I will be in England where I can't remember going on any picnics. The closest thing I ever had to a picnic was when we celebrated Guy Fawkes Day--which is in November--by putting potatoes on a bonfire in the backyard. I think garden parties are more 'the thing' in the UK than picnics but I shall report :)
After the pancakes, scrambled eggs and sausages, there was a huge waterfight. The photos at the top are from that great event--I managed to avoid getting wet by saying that I was the official photographer. Other wise souls stayed far away from the action.
The breakfast over we trooped back home, the wet ones changed and I crashed on the couch, half asleep. Then I woke up and decided it would be good to see if I could repack all my clothes, getting ready for Monday's trip.
Aaaghhh--I think I am taking too many clothes. But I can't decide what to leave behind. So I am heading over to the Mall--4th of July or not, it's open until 6:00 p.m.--and see if I can get a bigger case.
